Scottish Power is compensating 1,699 customers £294 each for overcharging them by an average of £149 per customer over eight years. The supplier mistakenly charged direct debit customers at a rate meant for those who pay when they receive bills. Scottish Power has also agreed to pay £1 million to Ofgem's Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Fund, which benefits charities and community projects that help vulnerable customers with energy-related support.
