Māori news outlet WaateaNews is set to fill the gap left by declining mainstream media coverage in New Zealand. From May 1st, the organization will livestream its existing breakfast show and introduce a new midday broadcast with equal parts in English and Māori. General Manager Matthew Tukaki emphasized the importance of ensuring Māori voices and topics remain prominent in the changing media landscape.
