Canadian miner Barrick Gold reports lower Q1 2024 gold and copper production due to lower grades and maintenance.

Canadian miner Barrick Gold reported lower preliminary gold and copper production for the first quarter, citing lower grades and maintenance at its mines. Gold output fell to 940,000 ounces and copper production to 40,000 tonnes in Q1 2024, down from 1.05 million ounces of gold and 113 million pounds of copper in the previous quarter. The company expects production to increase through the year, starting from the second quarter with its Pueblo Viejo gold mine in the Dominican Republic.
