AMD announced Ryzen PRO 8040/8000 Series for business PCs with dedicated NPUs for local AI processing.

AMD unveiled the Ryzen PRO 8040 Series for business laptops and mobile workstations, and the AMD Ryzen PRO 8000 Series for desktops, both of which feature dedicated Neural Processing Units (NPUs) for AI-specific tasks. These chips aim to bring local AI processing to business PCs, allowing users to run large language models and AI applications directly on devices instead of relying on the cloud. The new chips are expected to be available in platforms from HP and Lenovo starting in Q2 2024.
