79-year-old former Alabama QB and coach Steve Sloan, who backed up Joe Namath and won two national championships, passed away.
Former Alabama QB and longtime coach, Steve Sloan, passed away at the age of 79. Sloan, who backed up Joe Namath at Alabama, won two national championships with the Crimson Tide in 1964 and 1965. He later coached at four schools, including at Texas Tech, where he remains third all-time in the program's history with a .657 winning percentage. Sloan was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
