Ofgem, the UK's energy regulator, introduced a new rule on 1st April requiring energy suppliers to pay customers £30 compensation if they violate strict new stipulations and take more than 5 working days to switch providers. This rule applies to British Gas, Ovo, EDF, EOn, and Octopus Energy customers. The compensation is automatically paid into customers' energy accounts or bank accounts.
