Southeast Asia falls short in green investments, risks overshooting emission reduction goals by 32% by 2030 due to fossil fuel dependence.

Southeast Asia is "woefully off track" on green investments, according to Bain & Co. The region is expected to see energy consumption grow 40% this decade, with climate-warming carbon dioxide emissions remaining on the rise, due to its dependence on fossil fuels. Green investment grew by 20% last year, but it is still significantly short of the $1.5 trillion needed this decade to meet emission reduction goals. If current trends continue, emissions in the 10 countries in the region could overshoot their 2030 pledges by 32%. Bain & Co. urges accelerated efforts from countries, corporations, and investors to address the issue.
