A Singaporean technician, Leck Ching Hwa, was sentenced to four months in jail for directing foreign workers to continue working during a toxic gas release at the Singapore Refining Company in Sept 2020. The gas, hydrogen sulphide, led to the death of a 30-year-old Indian national, Palanivel Pandidurai, and serious injuries for two other workers. Hydrogen sulphide is a toxic, flammable, and volatile gas found in crude oil and natural gas production.
