Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced on 15th April that he will step down on 15th May, with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, 51, set to succeed him. Wong has the unanimous support of Members of Parliament from the ruling People's Action Party. The transition marks the beginning of a new era for Singapore, with Wong becoming the city-state's fourth Prime Minister.
