Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) propose new minimum wage of N615,000 for Nigerian workers.

Organized Labour, including the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), has proposed a new minimum wage of N615,000 for Nigerian workers after consultations between the two organizations. This proposal was made in response to the current minimum wage of N30,000 no longer being sufficient for the wellbeing of an average Nigerian worker, as not all governors are paying the current wage award, which will expire in April, five years after the Minimum Wage Act of 2019 was signed by former President Muhammadu Buhari. The Act is set to be reviewed every five years to meet the contemporary economic demands of workers.
