Kajima helped Japan advance in the chip industry amid global recognition of the need for reliable silicon supplies, leading the speedy construction of a facility for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. on Kyushu island. Kajima now has to deal with Hokkaido's winter to maintain its growth.
