1973 closed National Bank of Malta shareholders appeal against €111 million compensation order.

Government and a major shareholder of the former National Bank of Malta have both appealed against court sentences ordering the government to pay shareholders nearly €111 million as compensation after the bank was closed down in 1973. The National Bank was later replaced by Bank of Valletta. In March, a court ruled that the heirs and shareholders of the defunct National Bank are entitled to €111 million in compensation.
