A burst fire hydrant pipe caused water to flood southbound State Route 99 in South Seattle, impacting morning commuters and forcing the closure of the southbound HOV lane on the First Avenue South Bridge. Seattle Public Utilities workers shut off the water supply at around 6:45 a.m. The Washington State Department of Transportation confirmed that the water came from the broken pipe, which pooled in the HOV lane and created a hazard for drivers.
