54-year-old Quang Truong, an Orange County man, was sentenced to three years' probation and community service after attempting to smuggle endangered "good luck" songbirds from Vietnam to Los Angeles. Truong was arrested in 2017 at Los Angeles International Airport with over two dozen birds hidden in suitcases. He had pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy charge.
