14-year-old girl found in Marine's barracks; sex crime charges dropped, Marine pleads guilty to breach of restriction.
A Marine in Southern California, Pfc. Avery Rosario, who faced sex crime charges after a missing 14-year-old girl was found in his Camp Pendleton barracks room last summer, has had those charges dropped. Instead, Rosario pleaded guilty to breach of restriction, for leaving the base without permission, and was sentenced to time served. He agreed to be administratively separated, effectively being fired from the Marine Corps without a dishonorable discharge. The decision to drop the sex crime charges came after consultation with the girl and her family. Rosario's defense argued that he believed the girl was an adult and that she had been met on the dating app Tinder.
