Yankees utilityman Jon Berti has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left groin strain, retroactive to April 11. The team acquired Berti from the Miami Marlins in a pre-Opening Day trade. Kevin Smith, a 27-year-old utility infielder, will take his place on the roster after being signed to an MLB contract. Right-hander Ron Marinaccio has also been called up from Triple-A to fill one of the open roster spots.
