Pune police in India arrested six women for running an illegal child trafficking racket, selling newborn babies for between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.5 lakh each. A sting operation led to their arrest as they arrived with seven-day-old babies for sale. A nurse from a private hospital also played a role in brokering the deals. The police are now tracking the trafficked babies and their biological parents, and investigating the scope of the racket.
