Taiwan's pet population surpasses newborn babies, increasing pet medical care demand and veterinary investments.

Taiwan's registered pet dogs and cats now exceed its newborn babies, with 94,544 dogs and 137,652 cats, compared to 135,571 babies born. The demand for pet medical care has risen, leading to 5,773 veterinarians, 3,993 specializing in pets. This has increased investment in animal medical facilities and changed how people view pets. The number of animal hospitals is expected to reach 2,000 by next year due to the growing pet population.
