Maverick Vinales won the MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas sprint, setting a new lap record in qualifying and securing pole position. He led the race with over a second advantage and finished ahead of seven-time winner at the Circuit of the Americas, Marc Marquez. Jorge Martin increased his championship lead, finishing third on a Pramac Ducati.
