India added a record 18.48 GW renewable energy capacity in FY24, a 21% increase from 15.27 GW in the previous year. However, experts suggest that India needs to add at least 50 GW of renewable energy capacity annually for the next six years to achieve the target of 500 GW by 2030. India's installed renewable energy capacity as of March 31, 2024, was 143.64 GW, excluding 47 GW of large hydropower capacity.
