16-year-old girl killed in Brookings after bicycle collision with school bus. A fatal accident involving a school bus and a bicycle occurred at 10:30 a.m. on Friday in downtown Brookings at the intersection of 4th Street and Main Avenue. The bus, operated by Tami J. Varpness, struck the bicycle, and the teenage girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
