Former Amazon software engineer Shakeeb Ahmed, 34, has been sentenced to three years in prison for hacking two decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, stealing $12 million in cryptocurrency. Ahmed exploited flaws in the platforms' smart contracts to insert fake pricing data, generating inflated profits, which he then withdrew. This marks the first-ever conviction for hacking a smart contract.
