6th U.S.-made MK-82 aerial bomb found in Cambodia's Mekong River, increasing unexploded ordnance threat.
Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) discovered a U.S.-made MK-82 aerial bomb in the Mekong River, marking the sixth such bomb found in Cambodia this year. Between mid-1965 and 1973, 4 million tonnes of aerial bombs and 27 million cluster bombs were dropped on Cambodia, causing a significant threat of unexploded ordnances. Since 1979, landmine and UXO explosions have claimed 19,822 lives and injured 45,215 people in the country.
