Nigerian cross-dresser Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, has been sentenced to six months in prison for mutilating Nigeria's currency, the Naira. The Federal High Court in Lagos found him guilty of abusing the Naira during social events. Bobrisky pleaded guilty to the charges, but his lawyer requested a non-custodial sentencing option of a fine, arguing that he had cooperated with the EFCC and would use his platform to educate followers against the abuse of the Naira. However, the judge decided on a six-month prison sentence without the option of a fine, stating that it would serve as a deterrent to others engaging in similar acts.
