New York police seized E. Jean Carroll's unregistered gun during her defamation lawsuit.
In February, New York police took possession of writer E. Jean Carroll's unregistered gun after she revealed during her defamation lawsuit against former President Donald Trump that she had an unlicensed firearm at home. The firearm was held until Carroll received a New York pistol license. Under New York state law, possessing an unregistered firearm can result in a maximum sentence of four years. The jury awarded Carroll $83.3 million in damages for defamation claims against Trump.
