The Indian government has directed all gas-based power plants to operate from May 1 to June 30 to meet the rising electricity demand during summer. The Ministry of Power projects 260GW peak power demand this summer. A significant portion of gas-based generating stations is currently unutilized, primarily due to commercial considerations. The government aims to optimize the availability of power from gas-based generating stations during the high-demand period.
