Canada's average asking rent increased 8.8% in March compared to a year ago, according to a new report by Urbanation. The monthly analysis of listings from Rentals.ca found the average asking rent for all home types reached $2,181 last month. However, on a month-over-month basis, asking rents in March were down 0.6% from February. The report also found that asking rents for purpose-built rental apartments increased 12.7% compared with a year earlier, reaching an average of $2,117.
