A Halfords customer in Birmingham lost £2,000 after his Alfa Romeo was wrecked during a test drive by a staff member. The car was later found to have collided with two other vehicles and a tow truck, but Halfords initially claimed a third-party vehicle was responsible. The customer, Ian Tubbs, contacted Guardian Money after the company refused to accept liability for the collision.
