Caltrans aims to complete the stabilization of Highway 1 near Rocky Creek Bridge in Big Sur by Memorial Day (May 27), replacing the twice-daily convoys with a traffic signal. The convoys have been the only way in or out of the region since a landslide closed the road temporarily in March. Caltrans has been working to reopen the roadway quickly and safely, while also making it more resilient to future extreme weather events.
