IMF Executive Board reappoints Kristalina Georgieva as Managing Director for a second term.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board has selected Bulgarian economist Kristalina Georgieva for a second five-year term as IMF Managing Director, starting October 1. Georgieva's strong leadership navigated global shocks, and her term saw the IMF provide over $360bn in financing to 97 countries during the pandemic. Georgieva is the first woman to hold the position.
