39-year RTÉ veteran Eileen Magnier, the first female correspondent at the broadcaster, has announced her retirement. Magnier, who began her career with RTÉ in 1985, became the North West correspondent in 1990. Covering significant stories from County Donegal, she emphasized the unique and vital role of regional correspondents in public service broadcasting. Magnier will finish her on-air reporting in May.
