Former Lame Deer pastor Dean Alan Smith, 67, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for sexually abusing children on the Northern Cheyenne reservation. Convicted in December 2023, Smith was found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse, abusive sexual contact by force, and two counts of abusive sexual contact by force of a child. The pastor previously lived in Florida and came to Montana with his family in 2001.
