Winnipeg police charged Christopher Traverse, Chief of Lake St. Martin First Nation in Manitoba, with sexual assault, sexual interference, and child pornography in February. Traverse, who is accused of offences involving an elementary-school-age child, maintains his innocence and said he won't resign. The Interlake Reserves Tribal Council, which includes Lake St. Martin First Nation, became aware of the allegations.
