The Royal Mint is marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings with the release of a new 50p coin. The design of the coin's reverse side, featuring Allied troops storming the beaches of Normandy, has been created with the assistance of the Imperial War Museums. The coin, inscribed with "D-Day 6 June 1944 Utah Omaha Gold Juno Sword," will have King Charles III's effigy on the obverse side.
