Seychelles and Cook Islands leaders discussed establishing diplomatic relations during the 2024 UN Ocean Decade Conference in Barcelona, Spain. Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan and Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown shared common goals as Small Island Developing States (SIDS) advocating for climate action and carbon neutrality. Both countries are members of the AOSIS.
