2024's first Safe Haven babies in Iowa have been handed over to the state's Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). A baby girl born on March 17 and a baby boy born on March 20 were surrendered under the state's Safe Haven Law. Since its implementation two decades ago, 68 infants have been handed over. The babies will be placed with foster families until permanent placements are determined.
