A Portland man was killed on Wednesday while attempting to remove a 1,200lb tree stump from his backyard. The equipment used to hold the stump in place malfunctioned, causing the stump to fall on the man. The Portland Fire & Rescue Technical Rescue Team responded to the scene and used a high-angle rope system to remove the stump from the victim's body. The incident is under investigation by the police.
