Mexican drug cartels replace Southeast Asian suppliers as Australia's top meth suppliers.
Mexican drug cartels have become Australia's top suppliers of methamphetamine, overtaking Southeast Asian rivals. In the 2022-23 financial year, the Australian Federal Police and overseas authorities seized 23.6 tons of North American-produced meth bound for Australia. Mexican, US, and Canadian-produced meth now make up at least 70% of the drug found in Australia, while Southeast Asian meth fell to less than 15%.
