India's edible oil imports decreased by 17% during Nov-March 2023-24, with palm oil prices rising and exceeding sunflower oil prices by over $70 per tonne in the international market. India imported 57.65 lakh tonnes of edible oil during this period, down from 69.80 lakh tonnes in 2022-23. Palm oil imports dropped to their lowest level in 10 months in March as higher prices prompted refiners to substitute with sunflower oil.
