Indian government extends deadline for special registration and monthly return filing of pan masala, gutkha, and similar tobacco product manufacturers until May 15. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs initially announced the new procedure effective April 1, 2024, to improve GST compliance and amended the law to impose penalties of up to Rs 1 lakh if manufacturers fail to register their packing machinery.
