Canadian jazz composer, educator, and clarinetist Phil Nimmons passed away at 100. Known as the "dean of Canadian jazz," Nimmons influenced generations of musicians through his recordings, concerts, clinics, workshops, and university programs. Born in Kamloops, BC, he composed over 400 jazz pieces and recorded 19 albums. Nimmons was awarded the Order of Canada and a Juno Award for his contributions to Canadian music.
