West Virginia PSC investigates utility/cable companies' service interruption notification processes.

The West Virginia Public Service Commission (PSC) has launched an investigation into how utility and cable companies inform customers about service interruptions. The PSC has reached out to 14 state companies, asking them to explain their process of notifying customers when an outage occurs. The utility companies have been given 20 days to respond with details on their notification methods, plans to modify or improve systems, potential technical barriers, and procedures for notifying the media.
