Venezuela's former oil minister, Tareck El Aissami, has been arrested in a corruption probe into state oil company PDVSA. The attorney general stated that El Aissami, along with former finance minister Simon Zerpa and businessman Sarmark Lopez, are facing charges of treason, money laundering, conspiracy, and misdirection of public funds. The arrests come amid an investigation into wrongdoing at PDVSA, which began in October 2022.
