UK's largest pub operator, Stonegate Pub Company, with over 4,400 pubs, faces a financial crisis due to £2.3bn debt and has warned about a "material uncertainty" regarding its ability to continue as a going concern. The company, owned by private equity firm TDR Capital, needs to refinance its debt by July 2025. Stonegate's total debts reached over £3bn in the last financial year, partly due to the 2019 acquisition of rival pub chain Ei Group.
