UBC Okanagan resumed construction on its downtown Kelowna campus, despite evacuating four neighboring buildings, including low-income apartments Hadgraft Wilson Place, due to structural cracks and deterioration. UBCO's Media Relations Strategist Patty Wellborn stated in an email that professional engineers have assured them the shoring wall remains stable and raising the excavation depth would mitigate future soil settlement on adjacent lands, including Hadgraft Wilson Place.
