Supreme Court orders Gautam Navlakha to pay NIA Rs 1.64 crore for house arrest security expenses.
The Supreme Court has ordered human rights activist Gautam Navlakha, who was arrested and later acquitted in the Maoists links case, to pay Rs 1.64 crore to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The NIA claimed the expenses were for the security provided to Navlakha during his house arrest. The court stated that Navlakha, who sought house arrest, cannot avoid paying the bills as he requested the facility.
