1st Japan-born panda, Xiang Xiang, celebrated at Tokyo fan event; now thriving in China.
Panda lovers gathered in Tokyo for a fan-sharing event celebrating Xiang Xiang, the first Japan-born and raised panda at Ueno Zoo in 30 years. Despite rain, fans shared panda-shaped buns and exchanged messages of support. Born to Chinese parents on loan, Xiang Xiang returned to China in 2022 and is now thriving in her new home at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.
