Ohio Turnpike implements open-road tolling with E-ZPass, reducing toll plazas and gates.
The Ohio Turnpike has implemented a new electronic toll collection system, featuring open-road tolling and eliminating gates for drivers using E-ZPass. The $250 million project, funded by toll revenue, went live on 10 April and has reduced traditional toll plazas from 31 to 24, with 20 plazas removing E-ZPass gates. The new system allows E-ZPass users to travel the 241-mile toll road at highway speeds without stopping, while non-E-ZPass customers can still pay with cash or credit card.
