3-month gum disease treatment after AFib heart procedure lowers AFib recurrence risk, according to Hiroshima University Hospital study.

A study in the Journal of the American Heart Association suggests that treating gum disease within three months after an atrial fibrillation (AFib) heart procedure may lower the risk of AFib reoccurrence. The study at Hiroshima University Hospital involved 288 adults with AFib. Patients with severe gum inflammation who received treatment after heart catheter ablation had a 61% lower likelihood of AFib recurrence compared to those without gum inflammation treatment.
