A large JAMA study found no increased risk of autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability in children born to mothers who used acetaminophen during pregnancy. The research, which involved 2.5 million children born in Sweden between 1995 and 2019, employed a sibling analysis to compare the exposure and outcomes of full sibling pairs. Despite a marginally increased risk in the initial analysis, the study concluded that acetaminophen use during pregnancy was not linked to these neurodevelopmental disorders.
